How to enter
The Medipex NHS Innovation Awards are now open for entries.
Eligible projects include those where a new/improved product or service is being developed by, or in conjunction with, the NHS in response to an identified need. Entries will be considered from the idea stage right through to clinical investigation/pilot/in use across 5 broad categories, including a new industry-led category this year.
Categories
NHS-led innovations
The NHS innovation competition is designed to celebrate and showcase excellent ideas that were conceived, and are driven, by NHS staff. Entries into any of the four categories below must be led by an NHS organisation from anywhere in the UK (or a not-for-profit social enterprise that delivers NHS services); collaborative projects with universities or industry are encouraged, but any prize we may decide to offer will only be awarded to the NHS lead organisation.
- Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve patient outcomes
- Improved treatments, therapies and rehabilitation
- Delivering benefits through diagnosis and screening
- Process and systems innovations
New - Industry-led innovations to address patient safety challenges
The new industry-led category is designed to celebrate and showcase innovations that are being driven by Small or Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to address NHS and Social care challenges concerning patient safety. Entries must be led by an SME but need to demonstrate some existing engagement or interaction with NHS or social care organisations. This category will be judged by our colleagues at NIHR SafetyNet (the national network of NIHR Patient Safety Research Collaborations) and NIHR HealthTech Research Centre (HRC) Network.
Instructions for NHS-led Entries
There are two options for entry into the NHS-led competition -
- A short entry form combined with a two-and-a-half-minute video (preferred). Please read our video requirements guide.
- A standard entry form
Please note that neither method of entry will carry more weighting with regards to the judges’ scoring; the video entries are intended purely to provide an opportunity for our audience to hear directly from shortlisted innovators as part of the awards event.

Instructions for Industry-led Entries
Please note that there is only one version of the entry form for the submission of industry-led innovations. There is no video option and instead Finalists will be invited to participate in the showcase event on 24th June (full details to follow).

Deadline
The closing date for all entries is Tuesday 27th March 2026. Entries will not be accepted after this time unless an extension is advertised on this website.
All applicants will be notified by email mid-May 2026 as to whether they have been shortlisted as a Finalist in their category. Medipex staff will require timely assistance from all Finalists after this date in creating a Powerpoint slide to showcase your innovation, and we will also request that you provide one or two good quality image(s) to use for this purpose. Finalists will be showcased, and winners announced, during our live, online awards ceremony to be held on the afternoon of Wednesday, 24th June 2026.
If you have any issues or queries relating to submission, please contact enquiries@medipex.co.uk.
